70 Years of Excellence: Driving our Community into a Sustainable Future 卓越七十載:引領社區邁向可持續未來

Forging Ahead, Seizing Creative Opportunities The 1970s were turbulent times, but despite social challenges and the economic downturn, our predecessors stood firm, preparing for the future. In 1970, Zung Fu opened its first showroom in Kowloon, located in Ocean Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui. As sales continued to rise, large service centres were opened in Quarry Bay and Aberdeen in 1971 and 1972 respectively, introducing Asia’s most advanced electronic simulation testing systems and painting facilities at the time. A training academy was even established to develop professional aftersales staff. These initiatives demonstrated the company’s confidence in the future, advancing steadily despite difficulties. In the 1980s, the golden age of economic boom, Zung Fu reaped the fruits of several generations’ efforts. With Hong Kong’s rapid economic development and increased consumer spending power, the W126 series luxury four-door saloon quickly became the car of choice for the city’s elite. Owning a Mercedes-Benz W126 series luxury saloon was seen as a status symbol, essential for receiving foreign guests. Under our careful management, Mercedes-Benz was successfully established as a high- end luxury car brand. The beautiful exterior design, comfortable interior and reliable performance of its cars were deeply imprinted in the hearts of Hong Kong people. The Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star badge became the goal of countless people’s aspirations. The W124 series and 190E series, launched in the same era with comparable driving experiences and equipment to the W126 series, were immediately favoured by many professionals. At the time, the world’s most advanced R129 series SL convertible also entered the Hong Kong market. By the late 1980s, Mercedes-Benz had accumulated sales of over 20,000 units in Hong Kong. With the successive launch of several popular products, car styles became increasingly diverse. The customer base of Mercedes-Benz expanded from the upper echelons of society to professionals, making it the dream car brand for the general public. As multiple large-scale infrastructure projects were launched in the 1980s, Zung Fu foresaw increasing demand for commercial vehicles and began introducing Mercedes-Benz commercial models. Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles offered a wide range of carrying capacities, from 3 to 250 tonnes. The brand pioneered multiple industry firsts, including being the world’s first manufacturer to implement EU emission standards, equipping vehicles with ABS, using ventilated brake discs and even fitting commercial vehicles with airbags. Consequently, they were favoured by government departments such as the Police Force, Fire Services Department, Highways Department and Water Supplies Department. As Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles gained recognition, many private enterprises also switched to Mercedes-Benz products, from professional heavy-duty tow trucks to large-scale public transport vehicles. 14 B U I L D I N G C O N N E C T I O N S W I T H O U R C U S T OM E R S 創 新 優 勢 盡 領 商 機
